Why I Named My Business Maestra
Every name has a story, and this one starts in the car on the way to a kid’s birthday party.
My husband, Chad, looked over at me and asked, "So, have you decided what to name your business?"
I had been thinking about it for weeks. Naming a business is a big deal—it had to feel like me, but also be powerful, unexpected, and meaningful.
"It needs to be memorable. A single word," I said. "Something that reflects who I am, but not too obvious. A word that carries weight. Preferably, not an English word!"
Without hesitation, Chad said, "What about a maestro?"
And just like that, I knew.
What a Maestro (or Maestra) Actually Does
A maestro isn’t just a conductor waving a baton at an orchestra. They are the leader, the visionary, the one who brings the best out of every musician in front of them.
The best conductors don’t play the instruments themselves—they create the conditions for greatness. They guide the tempo, pick up on the smallest cues, and unify individual talents into something bigger than themselves.
That’s when it clicked.
This is exactly what I do in strategy sessions, leadership workshops, and high-stakes business conversations.
Why Music is the Perfect Parallel
Before I stepped into the business world, I commanded the stage in a different way—through theater. Performing taught me how to read a room, pick up on energy shifts, and bring people into a shared rhythm.
Just like a conductor doesn’t make music alone, I believe great strategy doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in the room, when the right mix of skills, perspectives, and expertise come together.
That’s why Maestra felt right. It’s not just a name—it’s a statement about how I show up, how I lead, and how I help others step into their best work.
And the "A" at the end of Maestra? It’s a powerful symbol of my passion for female leadership—a declaration that after years of leading within someone else’s vision, I was finally taking the reins over my own future and building something of my own.
Maestra is More Than a Name—It’s How I Work
At Maestra, I don’t just facilitate conversations—I orchestrate breakthroughs.
I bring teams together, create the structure for momentum, and help leaders cut through the noise and take action. The work I do isn’t just about ideas—it’s about turning complexity into confidence and strategy into execution.
That’s what a Maestra does. One simple car-ride ah-ha moment was all it took.
It was meant to be. 🎶
